2016 was a huge year for mystery man Seramic, whose debut EP Found caught the attention of the blogosphere with its fresh, pioneering approach to genre blending. Now revealed as Marcus Foster, Seramic is back with ‘I Got You’ – the second offering from his upcoming EP. Perhaps the first thing to note about the track is its swaggering, dirty bassline which sinks its teeth deep into the low end of ‘I Got You’. By contrast, the verses have a warped and trippy feel to them with short, manipulated samples and funky vocal lines. In anyone’s book these two styles shouldn’t work together, but Seramic’s stylised production and hip-hop approach to sampling welds the track firmly together. Speaking about ‘I Got You’, Seramic says: “It plays with your expectations a bit more than some previous tracks, you don't quite know where the song is going…”.
